DESCRIPTION

Epoxy.com  #229 is a two component, water based, high performance coating suitable for concrete and other commonly used building materials. Epoxy.com  #229 combines the exterior durability and gloss retention of acrylic with the adhesion and toughness of epoxy. Features of Epoxy.com  #229 include excellent resistance to abrasion, staining, and common chemicals. Epoxy.com  #229 has excellent interior and exterior durability. Epoxy.com  #229 was developed as a high performance topcoat for protection of exterior/interior concrete floors and walls. It is ideal for clean rooms, laboratories, driveways, garages, walks, and patios.

CONSIDERATIONS

Not recommended for use where strong solvents are anticipated.

Substrate temperature must be a minimum of 50ºF and relative humidity below 85% for proper cure.

Substrate must be free of dirt, waxes, curing agents, and other foreign material.

Typically self-priming, but depends on density and condition of substrate. Product may require two coats.

APPLICATION

SURFACE PREPARATION

Surface Preparation is the most critical portion of any successful resinous flooring system application. All substrates must be properly prepared as outlined on the Epoxy.com website.  Epoxy.com Technical service department is pleased to answer any questions.

INSTALLATION

Mix each component of Epoxy.com  #229 prior to combining. Mix 1 part Part A with 4 parts Part B and allow to stand 15-30 minutes before applying. Roll mixed Epoxy.com  #229 at a rate of 300-400 ft2 per gallon with a non-shedding, short nap roller. Care should be taken to avoid puddles. Do not build a film of the sealer. Roll out so that it soaks into the concrete. Two coats are necessary to insure uniform wetting and coverage when used as a stand alone sealer. The second coat may be applied as soon as the first coat is tack free. For complete installation instructions, contact Epoxy.com technical service department .

CLEAN UP

Skin and tools can be cleaned with soap and water. Xylene and/or lacquer thinner will also clean tools and equipment. Consult Material Safety Data for safety and health precautions.

RE-COAT/CURE TIMES

Epoxy.com  #229 can be re-coated very rapidly. Follow the re-coat windows specified below:

Re-coat 3-6 hours

Light Traffic Overnight

Heavy Traffic 5-7 days

Thicker application and cooler temperatures will lengthen tack free time.

Higher temperatures and good ventilation will accelerate dry times; lower temperatures and higher humidity will lengthen dry times.

MAINTENANCE

Epoxy.com  #229 is easily cleaned with neutral soaps or detergents. Routine mechanical scrubbing is recommended for all surfaces having a non-skid texture. Long periods of heavy traffic may cause wear patterns necessitating a maintenance application of a finish coat.
