A liquid applied, single-component, moisture-cured polyurethane coating, designed to form a tough rubber membrane impervious to moisture. A two-component version of Epoxy.com  Product #417PW Reservoir Grade is available, with a non-toxic catalyst, to reduce the tack free time of the membrane.

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Composition: Polyurethane elastomer.

Basic Uses: Once cured, Epoxy.com  PRODUCT #417PW RESERVOIR GRADE allows expansion and contraction over a broad temperature range and maintains flexibility and waterproofing properties under continuous exposure to water. Epoxy.com  PRODUCT #417PW RESERVOIR GRADE has a thixotropic consistency and may be used on vertical, as well as horizontal, surfaces. Epoxy.com  PRODUCT #417PW RESERVOIR GRADE remains flexible from -75deg.F(-60C) to 175 deg. F (79C).

BASIC PROPERTIES

bulletMonolithic Waterproofing
bulletSuitable as a Potable Water Lining (in tanks 5,000,000 gallons or larger)
bulletU.V. Stability
bulletChemical Resistance
bulletCorrosion & Abrasion Resistance

Monolithic Waterproofing: Once cured, #417PW allows expansion and contraction over a variety of substrates, including concrete, metal, and wood.

U.V. Stability: #417PW resists exposure to U.V. sun rays and, therefore, is appropriate for exterior applications. Some chalking may occur.

Chemical Resistance: #417PW displays resistance to some liquid chemicals. Specific testing is recommended prior to any installation. Chlorine and other water purification systems are not acceptable. Contact manufacturer for assistance.

Potable Water Lining: PRODUCT #417PW has been designed for use in lining concrete-based above and below grade reservoirs or storage tanks. When #417PW is correctly installed and firmly bonded to the substrate, water cannot flow underneath the lining as is the tendency with sheet lining materials.

Limitations: Containers that have been opened must be used within one or two days since Epoxy.com  PRODUCT #417PW is a moisture-reactive material. All surfaces must be dry and completely free of foreign matter. This coating will begin to cure when exposed to the humidity in the air.

Shelf Life: 12 months at 77 deg. F. (25C) in tightly sealed containers.

Advantages:

A. Epoxy.com  PRODUCT #417PW RESERVOIR GRADE is a single-component compound that may be used directly from the container with no mixing required.

B. No catalysts are necessary, as #417PW is a moisture-cured compound.

C. Epoxy.com  Product #417PW Reservoir Grade Two-Component version, with the non-toxic catalyst, will reduce the tack free time of the coating, thereby, minimizing the likelihood of airborne contaminants or dust from becoming imbedded into the material.

D. Applied cold by spray methods, brush, roller, squeegees or trowel.

E. May be applied over concrete, stone, brick, cement blocks, wood, metal, and most other surfaces.

Concrete substrates require priming with Epoxy.com  Product #888 Primer. Some substrates may also require priming.

F. Epoxy.com  PRODUCT #417PW cuts cost of application by eliminating mixing, splicing, sealing tapes, adhesives and other labor consuming methods required when installing other membrane lining systems.

G. The superior flexibility and elongation properties of #417PW allows expansion and contraction with the substrate, and when installed properly, without cracking or becoming brittle.

H. Epoxy.com  PRODUCT #417PW meets standards for use with potable water and does not contain any potentially hazardous coal tar.

Color: Black and White

Standards: A.S.T.M. C836. Conforms to British Standards B.S. 6920 for use in contact with water intended for human consumption. #417PW.

INSTALLATION

Epoxy.com  PRODUCT #417PW RESERVOIR GRADE is best applied by airless spray. However, if the project does not lend itself to spraying, it may also be applied by roller, brush or squeegee.

All cracks over 1/16" in width must be filled and covered with Epoxy.com  PRODUCT #908/909 RESERVOIR GRADE CAULKING. This product may be applied by caulking gun and spatula. There is no need to wait for this product to cure before applying Epoxy.com  Product #417PW Reservoir Grade since both materials are completely compatible.

A dry film thickness of 60 mils is recommended over concrete and block surfaces. Extremely porous substrates should be filled prior to coating or receive additional ELASTO-DECK B.T. RESERVOIR GRADE.

Epoxy.com  PRODUCT #417PW RESERVOIR GRADE may be applied by airless spray, roller, brush or squeegee. The first coat of Product #417PWmust be applied at a rate of 40 to 45 square feet per gallon or 30 mils. After a 24 hour cure, apply a second coat of Product #417PWat the same rate of 40 to 45 square feet per gallon to achieve a total dry film thickness of 60 mils. If required, to obtain 90 DFT, repeat after 24 hour cure.

Epoxy.com  Product #888 Primer must be utilized on concrete substrates at a rate of 300 sq.ft. (27.81 m/2) per gallon.

MAINTENANCE

If Epoxy.com  PRODUCT #417PW RESERVOIR GRADE is damaged, it can be repaired by cleaning the surface and recoating with Epoxy.com  PRODUCT #417PW RESERVOIR GRADE.
