PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Composition: Liquid-applied, non-gassing, single-component, aromatic moisture-cured, polyurethane waterproofing membrane.Basic Uses: The Epoxy.com 454 LVOC Non-gassing Low VOC waterproofing membrane used with the all Epoxy.com 430 and 450 Series systems. Epoxy.com 454 LVOC Non-gassing may be used to fill minor cracks in concrete, except for expansion joints where Epoxy.com Product #910 is recommended.
Epoxy.com 454 LVOC Non-gassing may be used to waterproof concrete and plywood decks which are subsequently covered with outdoor carpeting, mortar bed and tile, or wood decking. The product is recommended for all applications which require surface waterproofing, where bitumen extended polyurethane would not be suitable. Epoxy.com 454 LVOC Non-gassing is also designed as a high performance elastomeric covering over spray applied, polyurethane foam roofs. Epoxy.com 454 LVOC Non-gassing is available in special thixotropic consistency for use over irregular surfaces such as foam roofs. Epoxy.com 454 LVOC Non-gassing must be coated with Epoxy.com Product #416 if it is used over foam insulated roofs.
Limitations: All materials shall be delivered to the jobsite in unopened containers clearly marked and labeled. Containers that have been opened must be used up within one or two days since it is a moisture-reactive material. It sets up when exposed to air.
Color: Tan and Concrete Grey.
Sizes: Available in 1 gallon cans, 5-gallon pails and 55-gallon drums. Weighs 10±0.2 lbs. per gallon (4.5±0.1 kg/gallon).
WARNINGS AND HAZARDS:
Before using the products, always refer to MSDS for important warnings and safety information. Use only in areas with adequate ventilation. Avoid breathing vapors. Keep away from heat and flame. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. In the event of skin contact, remove immediately and wash with warm, soapy water. Wear suitable eye protection. Always wash hands before eating.
INSTALLATION
Surface Preparation: All surfaces which are to be coated with Epoxy.com 454 LVOC Non-gassing must be free of contamination such as curing compounds, concrete hardeners, bond breakers, paint, etc. All surfaces must be dry, having a maximum water content of 20%. Water-curing concrete is recommended instead of using concrete curing compounds. Concrete surfaces should be cleaned by sandblasting, beadblasting or acid etching. Allow a minimum drying time of 72 hours. Except for non-moving shrinkage cracks, and joints must be sealed with Epoxy.com Product #910, a single component, moisture-cured sealant manufactured by Epoxy.com. All surfaces, except for plywood in good condition, must be primed with Epoxy.com Product #888 or Product #886 prior to application of the coating system at a rate of 350 square feet per gallon (8.6 m2/liter).
All seams between plywood sheets and the transition from the metal flashing and the plywood deck must be reinforced by imbedding a 3 inch (7.6 cm) wide strip of glass cloth tape in wet Epoxy.com 454 LVOC Non-gassing, which is brushed evenly over the seam to a width of 4 inches (10 cm) and a thickness of about 20 mils (0.5 mm) wet. The application of Epoxy.com 454 LVOC Non-gassing can subsequently be made immediately over the entire area, including the taped areas. Where Epoxy.com 454 LVOC Non-gassing is used as a protective coating on polyurethane foam roofs, it must be applied within 8 hours from the time the foam is installed.
Application: Epoxy.com 454 LVOC Non-gassing shall be applied at a rate of 25 square feet per gallon (0.61 m2/liter) per coat resulting in a 50 dry mil (1.2 mm) thickness. Greater thickness can be achieved if necessary without a problem of gassing or blistering. Epoxy.com 454 LVOC Non-gassing can be applied by airless spray equipment, roller, or notched squeegee. Airless spray equipment must have a minimum of 30 to 1 ratio. Permit a 48 hour cure time after the final coat is applied before continuing with tile setting, carpet laying, or back filling. Epoxy.com 454 LVOC Non-gassing has a unique chemistry in that you the cure time can be accelerated by merely adding water. Addition of 1 ounce per gallon (7.5 g/liter) will reduce the cure time between 3-4 hours at 77OF (25OC) and 50% R.H. Water must be thoroughly mixed in prior to application.
